What is the causes of slippage of chain hoist?

Poor quality chain hoist friction plate will be easily damaged, resulting in a reduction in friction coefficient and no tight meshing. There will be slipping phenomenon.

The causes of slippage of chain hoist:

  1. The hoist is equipped with brake pads. There is a ratchet under the brake pads and a pawl next to the ratchet. If the spring on the pawl is loose, it will cause the hoist to not brake and the brakes will fail, resulting in slippage.

  2. During the continuous use of the chain hoist friction plate, the friction plate will wear continuously. Poor quality chain hoist friction plate will be easily damaged, resulting in a reduction in friction coefficient and no tight meshing. There will be slipping phenomenon; in addition, if the friction plate is stained with oil, the friction coefficient will also be reduced, and slippage will occur;

  3. Improper maintenance of the chain hoist causes excessive oil stains on the chain hoist to cause wear on the friction plate surface, or the operating mechanism is loose and has not been adjusted, leaving the friction plate in a relatively dangerous working condition for a long time;

  4. The friction plate is full of oil, which reduces the friction, slipping occurs.

Solutions:

  1. If the pawl spring is loose, replace the spring to avoid slipping;

  2. If the hoist is used frequently, it is recommended to check it every 7 days, it needs to be replaced immediately when there is oil on the friction plate.

  3. The most basic method is to choose a good quality chain hoist. The surface of the friction plate will incorporate some metal wires to increase the abrasion resistance, stabilize the meshing, increase the stability, and thus prolong the service life, reduces the replacement cost and time cost.
